Alexander Izosimov is Chief Executive Officer of VimpelCom Group, a leading telecommunications operator in Russia, countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and South East Asia with a total population of about 350 million. VimpelCom provides voice and data services under its Beeline brand to more than 55 million subscribers through a range of wireless, fixed and broadband technologies. VimpelCom was the first Russian company to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange ("NYSE") in 1996.
Alexander has served as CEO of VimpelCom since October 2003.
Prior to joining VimpelCom, Alexander spent seven years with Mars, Inc. where he held several senior positions. In his last position at Mars he served as a member of the Global Executive Management Board and as Regional President for Russia , the CIS, Eastern Europe and Nordic regions, with responsibility for more than 20 markets in the region.
Before joining Mars, Inc., Alexander worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Co in Stockholm and London for five years, working with a wide range of industries and clients.
Beside the Board of GSMA, Alexander currently sits on the Boards of Baltika Breweries Plc, one of the largest European breweries; MTG AB, an international entertaining broadcasting group with its core business in television; Dynasty Foundation, a philantropic organization, which supports development of education and science in Russia. He also is a member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship in Russia.
Alexander graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute with a Master of Science degree in 1987 and holds an MBA degree from INSEAD.
