The GSM Association is the global trade association that exists to promote, protect and enhance the interests of GSM mobile operators globally. It consists of over 750 2G & 3GSM mobile operators (Full Members) supported by more than 220 GSM manufacturers and suppliers (Associate Members).
Full Membership is open to licensed
2G and 3GSM mobile network operators committed to implementing
the GSM family of technologies (GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3GSM)
for digital wireless communications.

Creates New Opportunities For International Transit Carriers

The GSM Association (GSMA) has introduced a new Associate Membership
Category for carriers that transfer mobile operators' voice calls
and video calls internationally. The new category will enable better
and closer interworking* between mobile operators and these international
transit carriers.
The creation of the International Transit Carrier category increases
the total number of Associate Membership categories, under which
GSM manufacturers and suppliers can join the GSMA, to 14. The GSMA
has more than 200 Associate Members (GSM manufacturers and suppliers)
supporting more than 700 Full Members (mobile operators) worldwide.
