Innovation and mHealth:

Lessons from other sectors to increase the efficiency and efficacy of healthcare services

5 December 2012

Event details

To meet the growing demand for care by an ageing population, eHealth and mHealth technologies will play a role in providing more efficient and patient-centred care. Mobile technologies have the potential to decrease the burden on health professionals by providing applications that support patient self-management of care and increase patient empowerment for disease prevention. Technologies can be the catalyst to drive new organisation of care and facilitate sustainable healthcare systems.
Though eHealth can offer solutions to healthcare challenges, systemic barriers remain that prevent greater uptake of technology within healthcare systems. Other industries have faced similar systemic challenges with regards to introducing mobile technologies – for example, the banking industry (mobile payments) and the transport industry (mobile tickets) – and have overcome these challenges to provide more improved and efficient services for consumers.

Welcome to the home of GSMA Europe’s mobile meetings

Hosted in our new offices, mobile meetings are a series of small scale – but big scope – invitation only events for the Brussels public policy audience. Join us for a different take on the main issues affecting the mobile communications industry and its place in Europe’s information society.

We’ve thrown out the rule book

We promise not to simply broadcast position papers you can read off the internet. We’ll invite different stakeholders each time to give a contrasting view on each topic. Interested in a dialogue where everyone stands to learn something? Then check out our next event, and look at the calendarfor details of upcoming meetings.
