GSM Europe Membership

Impact

The role of GSM Europe will have a huge positive impact on shareholder value through valuable contributions to the best inter-operator and regulatory environment, and through stimulation of wireless market development. In this respect GSM Europe has identified key actions to drive developments related to: Interconnection; inter/intra standard roaming; Third Generation (3GSM) wireless standards, spectrum issues; virtual network operators; numbering; fixed-wireless integration; M-commerce and the European Telecoms Directives Review. GSM Europe's role is to ensure that the voice of mobile operators on all of these issues is heard effectively and in a timely manner in all the relevant European forums.

Membership added value and benefits

Within GSM Europe members get the chance to input their opinions and national experiences into the interest group of wireless operators in Europe, one that is respected by key decision-makers.

Two to three times a year GSM Europe organises one of the most important events in European mobile telecommunications - its plenary meetings. The success of these meetings is based on information sharing with colleagues and experts from other countries. This enables mobile operators to keep abreast of developments on a regular basis regarding top policy priorities for the mobile industry in Europe.

In addition, GSM Europe members participate in working parties dealing with specific areas. The aim of these sub-groups is to monitor relevant developments on their own professional area, share resources and establish action plans so as to create the best possible environment for mobile operators in Europe to deliver excellent services for consumers.

The Association acts as a focused forum where industry players get together to develop the GSM platform to the benefit of the members, investors, administrations and ultimately customers.
There are two categories of membership of the GSM Association.
