Tekelec Provides Mobile Number Portability to Manx Telecom, an O2-Owned Operator

Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), the network signaling, mobile messaging and performance management company, today announced that it has deployed its mobile number portability solution for Manx Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of O2, a Telefónica company. Manx Telecom, based in the Isle of Man, selected Tekelec for its rapid delivery and history of mobile number portability success.
Tekelec deployed the first integrated number portability solution in 1997 with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), and today has 94 number portability customers in 32 countries, including nearly a dozen in Europe. Tekelec also has the largest market share for real-time connection number portability solutions – 35 percent – according to the Number Portability Research Note published by industry research and consultancy firm Analysys Mason.
