The Ecosystem
The following diagramme describes the business/contractual relationships between the various parties in the value chain.
The differentiation between roles and actors has been made here however, different actors can play more than one role in the value chain - e.g. Banks can also act as the Certification Authority and mobile operators can also take on the role of service provider.
This approach also ensures an open platform approach - i.e. the mobile operator should be able to provide services to multiple Mobile Signature Service Providers, Application Service Providers and Certification Authorities. The end user should have the ability to store several private keys on his/her mobile phone, thus being able to sign multiple - qualified or non-qualified - digital certificates.
