Connectivity Extension

Extending GSM Connectivity in Unconnected Regions
We work with mobile operators to extend GSM coverage to pilot and test new connectivity extension models and applications in order to deliver benefits to unconnected communities.

To date we have worked with mobile operators on the delivery of two Connectivity Extension projects:

• Lake Victoria – extended mobile coverage on Lake Victoria to increase safety and security on the world’s second largest lake.
• Conservation – piloted the use of GSM technology to address the human-elephant conflict in Laikipia, Kenya.
• Skills Development – deployed international telecommunications training, best practices and knowledge to produce a highly skilled telecoms workforce in Bangladesh.
