ENUM technology
ENUM, developed by the IETF, is a DNS based protocol that translates telephone / E.164 numbers into Universal Resource Identifiers (URIs).
Strategy
Since it facilitates the interoperability of traditional equipment with the IP world and its services, ENUM is increasingly recognised as a strategic technology for both service enablement and technology convergence.
Service types
PathFinder represents the GSMA’s deployment of Carrier ENUM, aligned with IR.67 and the ENUM White Paper. The service is uniquely extensible; as new services emerge, they can easily be integrated. More than 20 different service types have already been registered with the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA).
Framework
To be successful on a global basis, ENUM requires a commonly agreed commercial and technical framework. PathFinder provides this framework, building a large, trusted ENUM community for GSMA members and the global telecommunications ecosystem.
